Job Title: Terrestrial Ecosystems Research Manager

The terrestrial ecosystems research manager will assume responsibility for the overall direction & leadership of a group of dynamic scientists operating on cutting-edge projects across sub-saharan Africa on terrestrial natural resource, ecosystem & land management based projects.
The management role will include the following:
Ensuring research excellence and financial sustainability
Establishing and executing directed research programmes
Ensuring the research area retains international recognition
Developing and implementing funding strategies and partnerships for research
Strategic stakeholder interaction to maximise the impact of research
Performance management of researchers, including career development
To ably lead this team of highly qualified researchers applicants are expected to posses a strong academic background with substantial experience in managing research programs - a component of which would include a track record of securing suitable funding. The aim of the Institute is to produce research with a direct & tangible application into real projects and therefore experience in assisting in the application of research with the public & private sector is advantageous.
