STATE/TERRITORY SPONSORED BUSINESS OWNER (provisional) CATEGORY - subclass 163
This four-year provisional visa is intended for businesspeople planning to establish a business in Australia. Applicants must be aged under 55 years and be able to demonstrate at least four years of successful business experience in a senior management role. Their current business/es must have had a turnover of at least A$300,000 (£145,740) in two of the previous four years; their business and personal assets must have a net value of at least A$250,000 (£121,450) and they must prove that they have adequate assets to finance the new venture and to support themselves while the business is being established. They must also demonstrate that they've carefully researched the market, submitting a detailed business plan. Applicants must obtain sponsorship from the state or territory government in which they wish to establish their business.
BUSINESS OWNER (provisional) CATEGORY - subclass 160
This four-year provisional visa is also intended for businesspeople planning to establish a business in Australia. This visa is for applicants aged under 45 years with at least four years of successful business experience in a senior management role. Their current business/es must have had a turnover of at least A$500,000 (£242,900) in two of the previous four years; their business and personal assets have a net value of at least A$500,000 (£242,900), with net assets in the business of A$200,000 (£97,160). They must also have adequate assets to finance the new venture and to support themselves on arrival. They must also demonstrate that they have carefully researched the market and must submit a detailed business plan. Finally, they must notify the appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government. They do not need state sponsorship.
STATE/TERRITORY SPONSORED INVESTOR (provisional) CATEGORY - subclass 165
This four-year provisional visa is intended for businesspeople willing to invest A$750,000 (£364,350) in Australia. This visa is for applicants aged under 55 years with at least three years experience of direct involvement in managing one or more businesses or investments, with an ownership interest of at least 10 per cent. They must demonstrate a high level of management skill in relation to investment or business activity and their assets must have a net value of at least A$1,125,000 (£546,525). Sponsorship must be secured from the appropriate state or territory government.
INVESTOR (provisional) CATEGORY - subclass 162
This four-year provisional visa is intended for businesspeople willing to invest $1,500,000 (£728,699) in Australia. The visa is for applicants aged under 45 years. They must be able to demonstrate having at least three years experience of direct involvement in managing one or more businesses or investments; that their assets have a net value of at least A$2,250,000 (£1,093,049); and that they can demonstrate a high level of management skill in relation to investment or business activity. They must notify the appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government, but don't need to obtain sponsorship.
STATE/TERRITORY SPONSORED SENIOR EXECUTIVE (provisional) CATEGORY - subclass 164
This four-year provisional visa is intended for senior executives planning to establish a business in Australia. This visa is for applicants aged under 55 years. They must be able to demonstrate that, for at least two of the last four years, they have occupied a position in the three highest levels of the management structure of a major business; that the annual turnover was at least A$10million; that their assets have a net value of at least A$250,000 (£121,450); and that they have adequate assets to finance the new venture and to support themselves while the business is being established. They must also demonstrate that they've carefully researched the market and must submit a detailed business plan. They must obtain sponsorship from the appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government.
SENIOR EXECUTIVE (provisional) CATEGORY - subclass 161
A four-year provisional visa is intended for senior executives planning to establish a business in Australia. This visa is for applicants aged under 45 years. They must be able to demonstrate that, for at least two of the last four years, they have occupied a position in the three highest levels of the management structure of a major business, where the turnover was A$50million; that their assets have a net value of at least A$500,000 (£242,900) and that they have adequate assets to finance the new venture and to support themselves while the business is being established. They must also demonstrate that they've carefully researched the market and must submit a detailed business plan. They must notify the appropriate regional authority of a state or territory government, but don't need to obtain sponsorship.
BUSINESS TALENT VISA (Permanent) - subclass 132
This permanent residency visa is intended for substantially wealthy businesspeople who intend to undertake a significant business activity and who need to be resident to execute the business plan. This visa is for applicants aged under 55 years, unless their proposed business is of exceptional economic benefit, where they may be older. They must demonstrate minimum net business equity in the home country business of A$400,000 (£194,320) and annual turnover in the home country business of A$3million (£1,457,399) in two of last four years. They must also have minimum net personal assets of A$1.5million (£728,699) able to be transferred to Australia. A key requirement is the proposal for state sponsorship. This must include substantial research, much of it conducted by the applicant, with total investment (applicant funds plus commercial loans) at over A$1million (£485,799), supported by a thorough business plan with conditional agreements between suppliers or partners.
